Dork-o-Rama: The Random Thoughts of a Total Goofball

Embracing the Dork Side....Because Life is Too Short to Take Yourself Too Seriously

Because everything one could possibly say about this day has already been said...

...and far more eloquently than anything I would say, I will only say this:

Isn't it time for Anthony Bourdain's new season yet?? I'm getting tired of these reruns, as delightful as they are...

Chulo keeps watching the memorials and the documentaries and he even dragged me to the damn movie.

It's not that I don't have the utmost respect for the tragedy. It's that I'm a NYer and IT HURTS ME to think about it/see it/remember it.

Not that it isn't equally painful to others but... I don't know. It took me more than 2 years before I could go back downtown and it was an awful feeling. Made worse by the throngs of street peddlers selling memorial this-n-thats. Ugh.

I worked on the 85th floor of tower 1. Then I got a new job and worked across the street. I was in that building every day of my professional life until I moved to Florida. And I'm one of the lucky ones because I don't know a single soul who was hurt or killed. Of all the people I know down there.

So yes, I pay my respects. Every day, every moment. But no one will ever forget so why must we have it jammed down our throats in this manner??

Olbermann nails it, and the President as well, in his special commentary tonight.

I wonder how many Americans excoriated Murrow back in the 1950's?

BTW, your link send me to an HTTP protocol website. Not really where I think you wanted me to go.

Will you think less of me when I tell you I have no idea who Anthony Bourdain is?

god, jmai, i didn't know you'd worked there. my god. i can't imagine how painful all this must be for you.

shoot, bp, i wish i'd seen olbermann tonight. i was busy hula-ing. and i fixed the link -- i don't know why it didn't work...!
and no, i do not think less of you... but now you're required to watch his show. i think you'd like it, actually.

I used to work at the hotel across the street. It's weird to think about it. But I would respectfully like to move forward and learn from the past. Some of the kids whose parents died that day say that seeing the images of the collapsing towers and the planes hitting is just too much.

Anyway...you are the second person whose blog mentioned this guy. He might be someone I'd watch.

nat, i think it makes perfect sense to move forward, as you say, respectfully. it's hard not to mark the occasion, but wallowing in it is probably too much.

and i hate that the day is used for political purposes...

by all means, turn on bourdain's show! it's a travel and food show like no other. really.

cad, i'd like to party/travel/eat with him too. and more...
