Look Look LOOK!!!

Look at what's in my fridge.

LOOK.

That's right.

It's that new Anheuser Busch gluten-free beer I was raving about, after I got to try it in NYC.

Oh. My. GOD. BEER!

BEER!

BEER I CAN DRINK WITHOUT GETTING SICK! And it's pretty tasty, too, though I suppose it doesn't hurt that it's just about my only beer option.

I know this doesn't mean much to you with normal digestive systems, but to those of us who have this weird-ass problem, it's very exciting. I've never been a big beer drinker, but I do like a yummy lager.

And, of course, when something's off-limits, you want it more.

I'm so thrilled to have found it, I'm ready to take back every obnoxious thing I've ever said about Whole Foods. I'm ready to forgive their high prices and the somewhat (w)holier-than-thou attitude of some of their workers. And customers.

I'm even ready to forget that I think I'm getting sick. Perhaps this is the cure.

Yaaaay, I have beer!

(I swear, I really do have more substantive things I want to write about, here and at the other blog... I just don't have the time or the energy right now....)

yay!

i'm really happy for you

i have only known one person who was celiac and only peripherally - so i didn't think about those sorts of issues before.

now that i am dating a lady with digestive issues it is at the forefront of my thinking

That's pretty cool. I've heard more and more about gluten allergies in the last few weeks than ever before. People will be happy to know about this beer. I love Whole Foods but can't ever afford to shop there. Their cheese selection is so nice. I love cheese.

Ohhh that is such great news *snoopydance of brewness* :) I have also been hearing about the allergies and how sick people can get. It's about time the food industry takes these things seriously!

I feel you on lack of time and energy. I mean I feel you A LOT.

I hate beer, but I'm still happy you found a yummy lager that won't make your tummy sick.

jeannette, whole foods has quite a few GF items on the shelves.... but there's another store here i like more so i rarely step into WF. now i suspect i'll be going more often...

cad, it's amazing how it kind of takes over your life. especially when you dine out, or go to parties. i feel like i've raised awareness on my own, just in my own circle of friends. and they've all done so much to accomodate me, it's wonderful.

natalie, it's a major problem... and most celiacs go undiagnosed for years and years and years before they figure out what's making them sick. i was lucky -- i knew people who knew people who have it so was able to put the pieces of the puzzle together fairly quickly.

nat, i agree! more food companies are doing a better job with labeling, but there's still loads to be done. i wish more restaurateurs would get with it...

jmai, i'm so swamped right now, it's just sad. and partly why the finding of the beer made me so happy...!
