How Do You Measure, Measure A Year?
I keep searching for something profound to say about the year that's just ended and the new one that's begun, but I got nothin'. There were lots of highs and many lows in 2009, and one can't exist without the other, blah blah blah. I expect the same from 2010.
Jonathan Larson said it better than I could anyway.
525,600 minutes
525,000 moments so dear
525,600 minutes
How do you measure, measure a year?
In daylights? In sunsets?
In midnights, in cups of coffee?
In inches? In miles? In laughter, in strife?
In 525,6000 minutes
How do you measure a year in the life?
How about love?
How about love?
How about love?
Measure in love
Seasons of love
Seasons of love
525,600 minutes
525,000 journeys to plan
525,500 minutes
How do you measure the life of a woman or a man?
In truths that she learned?
Or in times that he cried?
In the bridges he burned?
Or the way that she died?
It's time now to sing out
Though the story never ends
Let's celebrate, remember a year in the life of friends
Remember the love
Remember the love
Remember the love
Measure in love
Measure your life in love
I'm a lucky girl, surrounded by lots of love. What else matters?
Hau'oli Makahiki Hou! Here's to more highs than lows this year, for all of us.
(I can't even hear the first few notes of this song without the waterworks starting!)

that song that you just quoted will always remind me of my middle school years... the chorus has sung that multiple times, and it will always remind me of junior high. always.
Anyway, happy new year, even though it's kinda late for that...
